Modern Mysticism in Society
The City of Canberra, the capital of Australia, was designed by Marion and Walter Burley Griffin two American Landscape architects that were deeply influenced by the Spiritism and Theosophy of the Nineteenth and early Twentieth century.
Their design combined modern building and technology with ancient mysticism and geomantic design.
They combined eastern and western architectural and mystical traditions in their design of what was to be the last Western Geomantic city based on the religions of Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome and of the east in India, China, Burma and Indonesia.
The following link to a work explaining this subject by Peter Proudfoot is important in understanding the mindset of the design of Canberra by the Burley Griffins.
